Watermarking
Bespoke Watermarks to give your corporate stationery an extra dimension
Try adding subtle branding or security to your Corporate stationery with your very own bespoke watermark design.
Downey offers a unique watermarking process which is ideal for smaller print runs of stationery, we offer a process where an imitation 'watermark' can be printed onto the paper and exhibits all the characteristics of a true watermark, visible on and through the paper. As this is applied to order, it is practical to use for quantities from 500 or 1000 Letterheadings or Certificates upwards. It is best suited to white papers 90gm to 120gm in weight. Please contact one of our advisors for advice on the best papers to choose for this process.
Watermarking is an increasingly popular option for many clients and offers a range of practical benfits, from adding security for financial or legal organisations, a mark of authenticity for Auction house valuations and University certificates or maybe just a way of incorporating a logo or name into the background of a Direct mail campaign.
Watermarking - as the paper is made:
This is a process tradionally achieved at the paper making stage where a design is created and mounted onto a paper wire. The paper pulp is sprayed onto this wire, smoothed and dried enabling this watermark design to be visible on and through the paper. Many designs are available, more complicated designs require a 'Dandy Roll' costing several thousand pounds. Simpler designs cost much less but in either case there is a minimum making of between one and two tonnes of paper - this equates to about 160,000 to 320,000 A4 sheets of 100gm, with a turnaround time of 4-6 weeks.
