Paper Quality & Choice:

Downey can supply a wide range of high quality stationery papers and cards all supplied with matching envelopes in various sizes. We can offer advice on which paper to choose depending on usage, for instance which papers may work best for certain printing processes (such as Thermography) and through laser printers for mailing projects. For general Corporate use it is best to keep sizes standardised ('A' sizes - see Glossary) as much as possible to ensure you have the best and widest choice of materials available with matching envelopes. This helps to keep costs to a minimum whilst ensuring the best quality is achieved for your budget.

Many materials are FSC certified or Recycled - please ask one of our advisors for help and samples. 

Printing Processes:

Downey offers a wide range of printing processes including Lithography, Thermography, Engraving / Diestamping and Foilblocking. These can be used individually or combined to create a unique company image, there are however important considerations for Corporate use. Thermography for instance is usually not compatible with Laser printing, but Downey offers a Laser-proof form of Thermography which enables use through a laser printer, best results are achieved using a smooth white paper stock. Foilblocking is another process which requires careful testing with laser printers, Downey is able to offer several Laser compatible Foils which are suitable for use on Letterheadings, please contact one of our advisors for further assistance.

Bespoke Watermarking: 

Downey is one of the few companies in the UK able to produce bespoke 'Watermarks' in your Company stationery. Downey helped perfect a specialist chemical process which produces an artificial 'watermark' in your paper, this looks and acts like a real watermark and can be held up to a light source for viewing more fully. Whereas a real watermark is placed into the paper during the manufacturing process and requires a minimum order of 1-2 tonnes, our process has no minimum, just a small set up fee which includes a printed proof for your approval. This process is an ideal way to 'authenticate' and 'secure' your stationery, ideal for Valuation documents and Certificates as used by Jewellers, Auction Houses and Universities.
